Abstract: Main Street is a 1920 novel written by American author Sinclair Lewis. It's considered a landmark work in American literature for its critical portrayal of small-town life in the United States during the early 20th century. Upton Sinclair (1878-1968) was an American author, journalist, and political activist. He is best known for his muckraking novel, The Jungle (1906), which exposed the unsanitary and dangerous conditions in the meatpacking industry in Chicago.
